The Best Activities for a Couple’s Getaway in Marbella

Marbella is one of Spain’s most popular holiday destinations and with good reason. Even if the city wasn’t there, you could go for the surrounding nature and wonderful weather. It’s on the Costa del Sol (the Sun Coast), an area that completely lives up to its name.

Even though you can sometimes see snow on the nearby Sierra Blanca mountains in the winter, you can thank these mountains for protecting Marbella and providing a microclimate that leaves the city neither too hot nor too cold!

Marbella is a great place to visit for anyone, but it’s particularly good for couples looking for a romantic getaway because there are so many things for you and your partner to enjoy together!

Wine and Dine

Andalusia is home to lots of good food and drink and the locals take their cuisine very seriously. There’s no lack of great places to eat and drink. From lively local restaurants to fine dining and gastrobars, Marbella has it all.

If you and your partner want to take in the local ambiance, you can dive into your typical Spanish tapas bar.

Celebrating a special moment in your relationship or looking for something more refined? There are half a dozen Michelin-star restaurants in the area including the wonderful Messina.

Head Out to Sea

It would be a shame to visit the Costa del Sol and not make the most of the costa. From Marbella, there are plenty of boat trips to enjoy.

Take a trip to sea dolphins or enjoy the sunset over the Mediterranean!

There are trips for all tastes and budgets including catamaran trips, private boat trips with dining experiences on board, or jet ski rentals for couples with a need for speed.

Caminito del Rey

There’s plenty to do outside of Marbella, too, and if you like nature, you should make the most of what Andalusia has to offer.

The Caminito del Rey (King’s Pathway) is an area of outstanding natural beauty and a walkway that runs along a gorge in El Chorro.

From Marbella, you can drive there in about an hour with your own tickets, but tickets can sell out months in advance so it’s a good idea to book with organized tour groups as they have their own ticket allocation.

Go for a Stroll

If you’re in Marbella to spend time with your partner, you can do just that. This isn’t part of the world where you need to rush around. Relax.

You can always take a leisurely stroll around the city. In Spain, this is called a paseo, and you’ll see hundreds of locals heading out for a walk and a chat around sunset (as the weather gets cooler).

From the coast to the old town, Marbella is a city you can comfortably walk around and when combined with the agreeable climate, you and your partner can walk around, hold hands, and just enjoy each other’s company.
